Your profile

Your profile.

Your profile is your home on Be.

Add a photo, choose what you'd like others to see and connect your activities to build a picture of your active life.

You control your privacy. Depending on what you choose, your profile and activity can be shared with:

Squad

the people you've chosen to connect with most closely.

Clubmates

people who belong to the same clubs as you.

Public

visible to the wider Be community within the app.

You can change your privacy settings as your network grows.

Your Cairn

Your Cairn.

Your Cairn is a visual representation of your journey on Be.

Just as a cairn is built stone by stone, your Cairn grows as you keep showing up.

It isn't simply about being the fastest, going the furthest or training the most. It's a more personal way of reflecting the consistency, experiences and moments that make up your active life.

Your Cairn gives you something recognisably yours, a visual record that evolves with you over time.

You may see your Cairn used elsewhere around Be too, including on things you create and share.

Keep moving. Keep adding stones. See where your journey takes you.

Tags

Tags.

Not every session has the same purpose.

Tags let you add a little more meaning to what you do.

An easy run with friends feels very different from a hard interval session. A recovery swim isn't the same as a race. Sometimes you're training; sometimes you're exploring; sometimes you're mostly there for the coffee afterwards.

Tags help you describe the type, purpose or feel of an activity without having to explain it every time.

They also help Be understand the way you like to be active, so the app can become more useful and relevant to you over time.

Choose the tag that best reflects your activity and get on with doing it.

Clubs

Clubs.

Find your clubs on Be and join their community.

A Club is where organisers can share activities and announcements, and where members can see what's happening, who is joining and what else the club has coming up.

Keep the community engaged between sessions, and organise the Afters ahead of time, the coffee, breakfast or meet-up once the Club Activity finishes.

Your club can be a running club, cycling group, swim squad or another active community.

Once you're part of a club, you can discover activities and connect with other Clubmates while still controlling how much of your profile they can see.

Explore

Explore.

Looking for something new?

Explore helps you discover clubs, activities and people across the Be community.

Find something happening nearby, discover another club or come across people who share the way you like to move.

Privacy still applies: being discoverable on Be doesn't mean everything on your profile becomes visible.

Activities

Activities.

Activities are where Be comes to life.

Join something organised by your Club, or post and browse independent Buddy sessions nearby. See who's planning to attend and keep track of what's coming up.

For activities where location matters, Be can keep the precise meeting point limited until you have been accepted, while still showing enough information to decide whether the activity is right for you.

Your participation in an activity doesn't automatically give everyone there access to the rest of your profile.

Be a Buddy

Be a Buddy.

Want company for a run, ride or swim near you?

Be a Buddy helps you find people who are running, cycling or swimming in your area and arrange to meet up, independently of Clubs.

You can post a session for others to join, or browse nearby Buddy sessions and ask to join one that suits your pace and experience.

Buddy sessions bring together up to four people, at the moment, a small group to move with, whether you’re new to the area, getting back into an activity or simply looking for company.

The exact meeting point becomes visible once you have been accepted. A temporary session chat helps everyone coordinate, and closes automatically after the activity.

Afters can happen naturally: if you feel like a coffee or a bite to eat afterwards, decide together on the day. Unlike the Afters organised in advance for Club Activities, Buddy Afters are more spontaneous.

Be a Buddy is intentionally lightweight. It isn’t a dating feature or a permanent messaging network. It’s a way to find local people and enjoy being active together.

YOUR BUDDY RATING

A good Buddy.
A good experience.

After a Buddy session, you can rate your Buddy. Buddy Rating gives you a way to reflect on the experience of meeting up and being active together.

The rating covers three things:

On time

Did they show up on time?

Pace

Could they stick to the chosen pace? This is about keeping to the agreed session pace. A gentle pace is just as valid as a faster one.

Buddy up again

Would you choose to run, ride or swim with them again?

Choose the response that best reflects your experience in each category, then submit your rating. Each category uses a five-star scale, with an option for someone who didn’t turn up.

The rating screen shows the combined Buddy Score out of 15, alongside a score out of five. For example, 15/15 is shown as 5.0/5.

Your Buddy Rating appears on your profile as a star rating and a score out of five, labelled “Buddy score”.

Rate fairly and base your answers on the session you arranged, being on time, matching the agreed pace and the experience of moving together.

Your Squad

Your Squad.

Your Squad is your closer circle on Be.

Connecting as Squad gives each of you greater access to the other person's activity and profile, subject to your privacy settings.

A Squad connection has to be accepted, someone can't simply add themselves to your inner circle.

And if a connection no longer makes sense, you can remove it.

Boost someone.

Sometimes a like isn't quite enough.

Boosts are Be's way of showing encouragement.

Send a little support, recognition or celebration when someone shows up, pushes themselves, reaches a goal or simply deserves it.
